The minister stressed the importance of supporting women's sport and giving visibility to the future promises of this growing sport.
Afterwards, she took part in the event organised by the Spanish Padel Federation and Palas Para Todos, whose aim was to promote social inclusion and access to sport, especially for people with disabilities. ‘Palas Para Todos’ is an association led by Carolina Navarro, a former professional player, which uses padel as the main tool for students with special abilities to approach sport and improve their skills and advance in their social integration.
‘Sport is a tool with an incredible power to transform society and for inclusion. I was at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, where Spain won 40 medals and had the second delegation with the most women. All initiatives in this sense will have the support of the Government of Spain,’ said Saiz Delgado.
Carlos Almazán, Director of Institutional Relations of the event said: ‘The Hexagon Cup is a 360 event, and involves all facets of sport. This synergy between sport and inclusion is fundamental on a social level’.
Astrid Thams also expressed her gratitude to Elma Saiz Delgado: ‘It is a pleasure to receive the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration to bring padel to all people and promote sport as a tool for integration’.
In this way, the Hexagon Cup is consolidating its position as a benchmark tournament in the 20x10 sports calendar, as well as a showcase for solidarity events. Furthermore, the Minister's participation in these events underlines the Government's commitment to the promotion of sport in all its forms and to the creation of equal opportunities for all citizens.
