DAY 1: TOURNAMENT STARTS BIG TIME

On the other hand, on centre court at the Madrid Arena, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid legends played the Hexagon Cup Solidarity Derby.

Lorena Rufo and Raquel Eugenio gave the first point of the tournament to ElevenEleven, after beating the Krü Padel by TakTika pairing 6-3 / 7-5. After that, the Next Gen of RL9 Padel Team by Cupra, Jana Montes and Laia Rodríguez, and the Next Gen of Hexagon Team, Sofía Saiz and Camila Fassio, made their debut in the competition. The corresponding point was won by the FC Barcelona striker's duo, after beating their rivals 6-3 / 6-4.

The first official match started at 13:00 on centre court at the Madrid Arena, where the ElevenEleven pairing, Paula Josemaría and Alejandra Alonso, took on the AD/vantage Padel Team duo, the defending champions, formed by Delfi Brea and Sofía Araujo. The Argentinian and the Portuguese took the match 7-5 / 6-4 and won the first two points for their team.

Navarro and Chozas pull off a surprise and beat Tapia and Sanz

After this, Agustín Tapia and Jon Sanz, from RL9 by Cupra, and Alex Chozas and Paquito Navarro, under the Hexagon Team banner, jumped into the 20x10. The two points went to Navarro and Chozas for the fans' team, in a very tight match that ended up being decided in the super tie-break, by 3-6 / 7-5 / 10-7. After the victory, the Andalusian expressed his ‘happiness’ for the points: ‘We are happy, but we want to go step by step to reach the final and there are still many matches left’.

Team Bella opens with the victory of its women's duo

Afterwards, the women's pairing of one of the two new teams in the Alpine Hexagon Cup 2025, Ten Padel Alpine, took to the court. Claudia Fernandez and Tamara Icardo faced Jessica Castelló and Andrea Ustero of Team Bella Puerto Rico. An exciting match, which ended with a 6-1 / 1-6 / 10-5 in favour of Castelló and Ustero, who scored the first two points for the Puerto Rican team. After that, the players praised their bravery in the super tie-break: ‘We started the match with a clear plan, but the second was different. In the super tie-break we played with a lot of confidence, as we talked about with Jorge on the bench’.

Momo Gonzalez and Fede Chingotto interrupt the joy of AD/vantage

Once again, AD/vantage Padel Team took to the court at the Madrid Arena, this time Tello and Di Nenno, to face the Krü Padel by Taktika duo, Momo Gonzalez and Fede Chingotto. A match that, once again, was decided in the super tie-break and kept the fans expectant until the last moment. On this occasion it was decided in favour of ‘Kun’ Agüero's team, by 5-7 / 6-4 / 10-8. ‘We were up to the task and managed to use our grit and heart to pull off the match,’ said Chingotto at the end of the match.

However, the day's action continues and there are still two more big matches to come. In the first of these, the Rafa Nadal Academy Powered by Richard Mille, the women's pairing of Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay, will make their debut. In front of them, the magic of Ari Sanchez and the experience of Lucia Sainz, under the banner of RL9 Padel Team.

The first day of competition ended with two great matches. The first, in the women's category, pitted Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay, from the Rafa Nadal Academy Powered by Richard Mille, against Ari Sanchez and Lucia Sainz, from RL9 Padel Team by Cupra. The Rafa Nadal Academy team took their first two points of the event, after Martita and Gemma won by a double 6-4, who were very solid and knew how to take advantage of the break opportunities.  

After this match, Arturo Coello, world number one, along with Coki Nieto and the whole Team Bella Puerto Rico Rico Rico took to centre court to take on Mike Yanguas and Javi Garrido, representatives of 10 Padel Alpine and close out a dream first day. A vibrant match that was resolved in the super tiebreak after the team led by Pierre Gasly took a tight 7-5 lead. The Puerto Rican team recovered ground and with two breaks closed the second set 6-2. In the end, 10 Padel Alpine took the victory in the super tiebreak by 10-5 defeating Arturo and Coki.
