Yesterday, the draft for the second edition of the Hexagon Cup took place at Mad4Padel.

The eight teams are complete in all three categories: male, female, and Next Gen Female.

This tournament will provide more support to Women's padel than ever: this year's Next Gen Female category will feature the future stars of padel under-22 and under-18.

Mad4Padel hosted the draft event for the Hexagon Cup 2025 yesterday. The event also brought together, virtually, the eight teams that make up the competition to complete the three pairs that comprise each of the teams. The objective is clear: seven teams want to dethrone the AD/Vantage team, the reigning champion of the inaugural edition.

One of the significant new features for the edition from 29th January to 2nd February is that the tournament will include a Next Gen Women's category this time.

Each team already had two franchise players, and the teams had the option to retain the same players they had in the inaugural edition if both the team and the player wished to do so. For example, the champion team from last year has decided to keep the female pair (Delfina Brea and Sofía Araujo) and the male pair (Martín Di Nenno and Juan Tello). Today was the moment to complete the teams. When drafting, the selection order was inversely proportional to each team's number of FIP ranking points at any given moment.

Hexagon Team is a particular case. Known as the fans team, the public has voted for Álex Chozas to partner with Paquito Navarro in the men’s category and Aránzazu Osoro to partner with Alejandra Salazar in the women’s category. The fans have also selected Sofía Saiz and Lucía Peralta in the Next Gen Women's category.

Enrique Buenaventura, founder of the Hexagon Cup, welcomed the event by thanking all the teams, the owners, the players, and all the fans who make the event possible. Still, first, he had a small intervention expressing his support for the terrible situation faced by several localities in the Spanish territory, especially in Valencia: “Our first words cannot be dedicated to anything but the victims and families of those affected by the DANA,” Buenaventura began his intervention. “We send all our support and respect.”

He continued commenting on the championship: “The first edition was a complete success, and we are eager for the 29th of January to arrive. The truth is that all the teams are very strong, and we are going to experience a true spectacle. We will see if the AD/Vantage team can repeat the title. They are the team to beat.”

On the draft, Sergio Lewin, the tournament's Operations and Sporting Managing Director stated: “The pairs are very evenly matched. The level is extremely high. It is a pride to have the best players in the world competing in a team format. Pure padle at its maximum essence.”
